How I Got Started

I am the mother of two sons on the Autism Spectrum, currently 18 & 19 years of age (2020).  Over the years we have seen Dr.'s, psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and more.

Seven years ago, while my sons were doing speech therapy, I was convinced of the need to make weighted blankets for children on the Spectrum.  When I looked online for weighted blankets I was surprised at the cost plus the shipping charges and realized I could easily make them for much less and no shipping.

I started as Autism Spectrum Resource and worked out of my home for 5 years.

As the years went by I found myself making more and more blankets for adults than for children.  Adults with Anxiety, PTSD, Restless Leg Syndrome, Parkinson's, Sleeplessness and Fibromyalgia, other problems that made sleep difficult if not impossible.

Last year, I felt it was time to move my business out of my home and into a brick and mortar store.  At the same time, I changed the name of my business to simply,

The Weighted Blanket Store and More.

I still custom and hand make each blanket to the needs of the individual. You can now come into the store, lay down and "try on" weighted blankets to make sure we get it just right for you.  You can also see first hand all the patterns and colors of fabric for you to choose from

for your blanket.

I look forward to working with you face to face:  to giving you personalized service and making exactly what you need.
